Hart's-tongue Fern

Fern found on large moss-covered dolomite boulders of the eastern Upper Peninsula.


 

Purple Turtlehead
Perennial forb of southern floodplain forests; leaves lanceolate and serrated; flower pinkish-purple.


 

Lakeside Daisy
Perennial forb of moist calcareous rocky soils; leaves narrow and dark green, forming a dense basal rosette; flowers daisy-like, solitary, borne on stout, hairy stalks, blooming early in summer.


 

Dwarf Lake Iris
Small forb forming dense clumps along calcareous shores of the Great Lakes in northern Michigan; leaves short and flattened; flowers iris-like, deep blue.


 

Michigan Monkey-flower
Prostrate mat-forming forb of calcareous seeps in the Grand Traverse and Mackinaw Straights area; leaves rounded and opposite, with coarsely toothed margins; tubular flowers (15-25 cm) with yellow petals and a red-spotted lower lip.
