When John Workman first encountered Michigan Nature Association founder Bertha Daubendiek, she informed him of the high quality marsh land owned by his company the Eagle Group (Eagle Alloy).

From that day forward, the Eagle Group has worked with MNA to help create a nature sanctuary protecting one of the finest examples of coastal plain marsh this side of the Atlantic Coast.

10,000 Acres Strong!
2011-04-01

MNA is thrilled to formally announce the protection of our 10,000th acre, a milestone MNA founders could only dream of.

Currently, MNA protects land in 58 of Michigan’s 83 counties. As the first land trust, and the only state-focused one in Michigan, MNA is proud to have a strong presence in the protection of special natural areas. From our first property in 1960, MNA has grown to protect land, habitat and species at 170 nature sanctuaries throughout both peninsulas, now and forever.

New Trustee Profile: Aubrey Golden
2011-03-21

In March, MNA held the election for the Board of Trustees. Trustees Mary Ann Czechowski and Debby Igleheart were re-elected. MNA also welcomed a new Trustee, Aubrey Golden.

Aubrey, from Southeast Michigan, comes to MNA as the current president of the Michigan Karst Conservancy. With an interest in nature that traces back to his early years as a boy scout, Aubrey values Michigan’s special natural features. He has an appreciation for stewardship activities and enjoys maintaining MNA’s sanctuaries at work days.  Recently, we sat down with Aubrey to ask him about his work with MNA.

Support MNA Efforts to Purchase Addition to Genevieve Casey
2011-03-01

If you care about Michigan and nature, here is your chance to make an immediate difference by helping MNA in a campaign to protect a special natural area in Oceana County (near Pentwater, south of Ludington).

Adjacent to the existing Genevieve Casey Nature Sanctuary is approximately 30 acres home to a trout stream, salmon spawning grounds and a variety of other habitats. Protecting this property would more-than-double the size of the existing sanctuary, and also serve as a buffer to continue protecting the habitat, especially the delicate stream ecosystem.
