The Carl E. McAlvay Memorial Plant Preserve is located in Alcona County. The sanctuary is small at only 3.5 acres but protects a rare glacial beach dune.
A number of native orchids, including pink lady’s slipper, and dwarf scouring rush can be found in the sanctuary.
