Carlton Lake Wetlands
400 acres in Chippewa County

Carlton Lake is not a sanctuary that is easily visited...but for those who make the trip, it will be worth it. Located a couple miles south of Goetzville, the sanctuary only is accessible by canoe.

The sanctuary is on the southern edge of Carlton Lake (technically a mile long beaver pond), and home to 45 species of birds. Because of the effort required to get there, it is the only MNA sanctuary where camping is allowed.
