Carlton Lake Wetlands
400 acres in Chippewa County
Carlton Lake Wetlands is accesible only by canoe and isn’t easily visited – but it’s well worth the trip.
Located a few miles south of Goetzville on the southern edge of Carlton Lake (technically a mile-long beaver pond), the sanctuary is home to 45 species of birds. Because of the effort required to get there, it’s the only MNA sanctuary where camping is allowed.
