Flowerfield Creek can be reached by following a trail off of Second Avenue, just north of XY Avenue, southwest of Schoolcraft.  It’s rated a B sanctuary because it takes a long trail hike to get there, but the trip is worth it.  F lowerfield Creek can be reached by a following a trail off 2nd Ave, just north of XY Ave, southwest of Schoolcraft. The sanctuary is rated a B sanctuary because of the long trail that must be traveled to arrive at the sanctuary. The trip however is worth it. July is the best time to visit the sanctuary as the creek is bordered by cardinal flower and purple fringed orchids. A lucky visitor will also see belted kingfishers diving for fish or a blue heron nesting high above.
