Fred Dye
36 acres in Mackinac County
The former town of Kenneth is home to this MNA Sanctuary, located northwest of Moran off M-123 alongside the Hiawatha National Forest. The site is one of only two in the entire state where purple coneflower is known to grow. In a single day, visitors to the Fred Dye Nature Sancutary saw blue-eyed grass, violets, evening primrose, St. John's wort, and a number of orchids in addition to coneflower. That same evening they saw a bald eagle carrying its dinner, evening grosbeck, sandhill cranes, deer, a red fox and a large black bear.
