80 acres in Chippewa County Located about 6 miles northwest of Paradise, Michigan, off Vermillion Road. The sanctuary is home to a number of plant species including pink mocassin flower, pitcher plants, large fringed orchids and white bog orchids. A lucky visitor can also see sandhill cranes, gray jays, pine martins and American Bittern. Ancient lake levels created this beach bar, providing a narrow spit of pine covered sand for the trail. Looking on either side of the trail throughout summer, six species of orchids can be seen by the thousands, across this fertile great lakes marsh.
