Twin Waterfalls
15.45 Acres in Alger County

The Michigan Nature Association's 100th Sanctuary is located near the intersection of Nestor Rd and H-28 in Munising. This is one of five MNA locations found within a city limit. The preserve gets its name from two waterfalls found in the sanctuary where Tannery and Memorial Creeks cross a sandstone escarpment on their way to Lake Superior. The falls are both dedicated in memory of long time MNA members. Rudy Olsen, whom the Tannery Creek waterfall is named for, was active in MNA conducting numerous bird surveys and serving as a caretaker for Timberland Swamp in Oakland County. Memorial Falls is dedicated in memory of over a hundred past MNA members. For a complete list see our 7th edition Guidebook.
